Does your hair move? Would you like it to?
A few tips:
- Clean hair is the beginning of graceful hair. Not only is your hair more graceful, it is in a state of gratefulness.
- After cleansing, replenish hair with a good conditioner and make sure that hair has a proper balance of moisture. This is key, knowing when your hair has enough moisture, and what to do to keep it balanced.
- After cleansing and moisturizing, wrap the hair in a towel. This step will allow hair to relax and excess water to be absorbed.
- Hair is now ready to dry. Hair that moves, does not require excessive heat. It requires patients and gentleness. Blow dry hair with low heat.
- If hair is medium to long in length, start by dividing the hair down the middle creating two sides (left side and right side). Comb or brush hair to remove any extra tangles that were not removed in the shower. Then, twist hair and pin with a hair clip on both sides. The goal is to focus on one side at a time.
- Hair that moves requires that you do a little extra, so divide the side that you are working on into three sections top, middle, and lower (more sections can be added depending on thickness of hair). Blow dry lower section first, then work your way up to top layer. Repeat process on both sides. This may sound time consuming, but the hair should actually dry faster because you are drying smaller sections. The process could take about 15 minutes, but you will have healthier hair, and more movement.
- Finally, if you would like to curl or flat iron your hair, repeat the process of sectioning the hair on both sides. Then curl or flat iron starting with the lower section first and working your way up to the top layer. The right amount of heat from curling or flat iron will give the hair a shinier appearance! So don't over heat your styling tools! The goal is to have healthy hair not damaged hair.
Well, I hope this answers some of your questions about hair that moves.
I would love to have more hair movement with my dreadlocks. What special steps should I take after wrapping my hair in a towel?
ReplyDeleteLocks that move are palm rolled after wrapping the hair in a towel. Palm rolling is a technique used to keep the locks looking really neat and tidy. If you want more instructions let me know, I will do my best to explain the technique for you. Thanks for commenting! Becca J.
